My name is Gabby Villarreal and I am 9 years old. (10 in November), and I have a brother,Jordan he is 13 years old, one of my favorite play mates.

I love to swim, ride my bike, play with my Bratz Dolls.

In April '07 I was sick with ear infections, eye infection and the doctor thought I had "mono". I felt better for awhile, but last week I got really sick again.. I was sent to Hemby Children's Hospital Friday the 22nd of June(a wonderful place).

We found out Sunday  23 that I have a type of AML Leukemia, this is a rare and very aggressive type. After we found out Gabby had AML she developed phnemona and was on a breathing machine for 14 days, once she was taken off that she had a rough time with the withdrawls from the moraphine and had to go through physical therapy to walk again and gain back her motor skills. This took a couple of weeks and then she was up moving. Not long after that the did the 2nd round of chemo and we stayed at Hemby for 2 months a nd a week and then was released with home health care untill her 3rd round of chemo. We just recently found out her 13 year old brother Jordan is a 100% bone marrow match and we will be going to Duke for a transplant October 1st and will be there for 4 months. Thats all we know for now and we will update Gabby's journal through her personal journey with this disease


       She had been healthy for three years one of the        few that make it and now she has relapsed

One journal entry:WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 19, 2011 9:38 PM, CSTWant to start off with thanking everyone for all the prayers and kind words.Tomorrow Gabby will be having surgery to have her central line put in and will start chemo on friday, She will be in the hospital at least 4 weeks, The map of treatment so far is 2 to 3 rounds of chemo to try and get Gabby back in remission and then back to Duke for a 2nd bone marrow. Transplant. This is going to be a long journey but Gabby can beat this again! I will keep you updated with her treatments, thank you again. Love Desiree
